Dr. Contractor and his intellect in computational hydraulics, especially in hydraulic transients and sediment transport theory, will be greatly missed. His name lives on in my class notes from five graduate water resources engineering courses he was gracious enough to offer during my graduate school day at The University of Arizona; in many M.S. theses and Ph.D. dissertations as a defense committee member. I am glad I could return the favor by keeping his Seepage and Earth Dam course material alive during my academic career. His enthusiasm knew no bound when it came to hydraulics education and research. His family's support was evident in his everyday professional pursuit. He did not forget to share his busy days with Mrs. Contractor over occasional lunch at our student cafeteria, only to later swing back to his hours of dedication to us in those classes. Dr. Contractor, through his teaching and research, enlightened his students of his experiences from world renowned institutions where he completed his education: Indian Institute of Science, The Iowa Institute of Hydraulic Research (IIHR-The University of Iowa), and The University of Michigan. May he rest in peace as we try, in good faith, to further his gifts of knowledge in advanced hydraulics research. Thank you. -Iftekhar Ahmed, Associate Professor, Texas
