Eulogy for Charles S. Russ Charlie was truly a man who lived life on his own terms; independent, a wanderer, and often disappeared to see other locations, people; and experiences. Charles Russ was the youngest brother of Frank and Tobie Russ. He was born in Detroit, Michigan; on November 9th, 1954 to a loving and guiding mother; Freda Molly Russ. Mother was also born in Detroit, Michigan, but their father 'Sam Russ' was born in Odessa, Russia approximately September 4th, 1919, was his guiding light. Tobie took him home from the hospital, just after his birth due to their mothers' illness. It was like holding a wonderful baby doll that moved on its own! Often times Tobie was the mother; as well as sister; always looking for Charlie--"where is he now?" Charlie often told her he wanted to be as tall as their older brother Frank. Charlie emulated Frank. Charlie graduated from Berkley High School of Berkley, Michigan 1972, and attended Welding Courses in Detroit for a couple of years. Charlie was also a United States Air Force veteran; from 04/14/1975 through 02/07/1987, and was discharged honorably as a Lieutenant Tech. After a few wandering years in Michigan, he moved closer to Tobie in Tucson, AZ in 1999. He spent several years volunteering in Habitat for Humanity, and as a volunteer repairing houses for members of First Christian Church on Speedway, in Tucson, where his photo is on their "great volunteer wall". There have been several people telling Tobie; including his kidney doctor, cardiologist; and his landlord, of how his smile lit up whenever he was asked to help someone; especially another veteran. His kidney doctor told Tobie that Charlie was the only veteran patient he treated that he took his heart. Charlie would bring him lunch whenever he had an appointment with him. They had many personal discussions. Sadly, Charlie passed away from kidney and heart failure when he took his last breath on December 29th, 2021. Tobie will always remember his soft laugh and wandering ways. Charlie, continue in your wandering, see your world and others as it brought you great joy.
