Glenn David Manis

Glenn David Manis, a longtime resident of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on October 26, 2019 at the age of 71. He was born in Louisville, Kentucky to parents: Glenn Vanoy and Martha “Marty” Dean Dorsey Manis. Glenn graduated from Brown County High School in 1966. He then attended William Jewell College, graduating in 1970. Glenn served eighteen months in the United States Army before attending the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Law, from which he graduated in 1975. After retiring from his career practicing law, Glenn worked for American Airlines and Pima County Justice Courts. He enjoyed family, food, friends, and fellowship. Glenn was a revolutionary thinker. He started a solar energy company in the late seventies, an innovation before its time. His most recent projects included plans for an underground town and a book about the life of Kokopelli. Glenn’s family was his greatest passion. He took pride in supporting the diverse endeavors of his family and friends. Glenn was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his twin brother: Lynn Dorsey Manis. He is survived by his children: Stephanie (Brad) Austin, Rebekah (Bob) Meredith, Amy (Robert) Gaff, Matthew Glenn (Carrie) Manis, Joshua (Dominique) Manis, and their mother: Anita Harvey Manis; grandchildren: Cait, Bobby (Elaine), Ryan, Zac, Dale, Ruby, Abigail, Drew, Reuben, Lucas, Tommie, Quinn, Kara, and Zelda; great grandchild: Lydia; brother: James (Jody) Manis; sister: Elizabeth Shryock; and dozens of nieces and nephews. A celebration of Glenn’s life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 9:30 am at Desert Son Community Church, 5250 W Cortaro Farms Rd, Tucson, AZ 85742.
