To my Baby Boy, I remember the day you were born as if it were yesterday, even though it was 60 years ago! But wait, that can't be right - I'm not old enough to have a 60 years old child! Del, I know your health has never been perfect. As a child growing up with Asthma in the 50's, you were not allowed to exert yourself at all, so you couldn't do a lot of things that the other kids could do - oh how I wish we would have known that back then! When you and Pearle moved to Tucson, I remember how happy you were and how great your lungs felt. It had been a dream of yours for so many years and I am so glad you were able to fulfill that dream! I am also so grateful that I was able to move here too. Spending these last 7 years so close to you has been a blessing! Your life had ended far too soon. No mother should lose a child. It has left a void in my heart that can never be filled. You will always be my little boy. Love, Mom
Del, I was blessed with the opportunity to have known you over the last 35 years. I will always remember your sense of humor and laughter. We had good times during our family reunions and now your presense will be missed terribly. Rest in Peace and know that you will always be in our hearts. Pearle, It is very sad to think about Del not being in our lives anymore. I know how much of an impact that Uncle Del had on you and the family; and it will be difficult not having him around. I remember all the times he would make me laugh with his jokes and how much of a kid at heart he was when I was around. My heart is with you Aunt Pearle and I know he will be watching over us all. Pearle, I worked in the same department with Del over two years. For months I had the pleasure of sharing a cubicle wall with him. He sat right in front of me. Like Monty and Pierre both said, there was not a day that when he was gone we didn't notice. I would be so excited when he would return after being sick, or as we all said, his secret agent missions. He would look at me like I was insane for being so excited that he was back. He shared many stories about you both, and I remembered why he came to work one day and said you told him that I must have been young because I didn't know any better. I would ask him for help and he was always willing and so I used to say he was my hero! One time I told him to go home and tell you that we said that and he laughed and came back the next time and said you thought I was crazy! :) He was always so sweet and once he started to get into the conversations with the rest of us, it made for a really good time and fond memories. He hated the IM but I remember one day he IMed me to ask how to input the smiley faces into the messages. Or once he sent an Urgent referral right before I was about to leave and my response was probably something like, no thanks. and I still remember because I saved the IM because it made me laugh so hard, Del responded with: You like it. It had us all laughing for the rest of the day. He was good at those quick remarks to get us all laughing. The people you work with for so long really do become like your family, and there was not a day since I quit that I did not miss them all and I would occasionally ask Monty how Del was doing. He was a great part of the team and will greatly missed. I'm glad to have had the pleasure to know him for the time I did. You and your family will be in my prayers.
Perle, I am so sorry to hear about Del. I especially remember the weekend at your house in Winchester. How much he loved your new dog and how much fun he was to be around. And of course his duties on the Neighborhood Association board. Life seems to fly by. You certainly had a good life together. You are in my prayers.
Dear Pearle Experiencing the death of a husband is so personal that we cannot understand the grief involved. Perhaps it will help to ease your sadness if you know that Del will be greatly missed by all his friends, and that we all share in your sadness.
