I didn't realize Allen passed away until very recently. My sincerest condolences to the Derman Family. Allen was an awesome chess player and I'll always have fond memories of him, the Rincon chess team and our times together competing with his younger brother Burt, Josh Leonard, Mark Lauher, Steve Yan and Bill Bernat and our sponsor and former Rincon math teacher, Donald Rule. Allen was a good and gentle soul. Rest in peace Allen.
