Ed Austin led an interesting life. Born in Idaho, his family moved to California where he attended college. He was drafted into the Army Air Corp during World War II and served in India. Returning to the US, he joined the US Gover Read Obituary
I remember talking to Ed, about his times in the FBI he talked about meeting Orville wright and driving President Nixon around. I asked him who he thought was most influential, he stated that Nixon just got elected Orville Wright change the world.
My husband Ed and I will certainly miss our Uncle Ed. He had such a kind, generous, and loving nature and a real zest for life and adventure. As others have stated, he was a talented artist until the end. He gave us paintings, primarily of the San Francisco area and Southern Oregon where he lived for many years. I have lots of memories through the years starting with him telling my brother and me Yukon Ed stories, sailing the San Francisco Bay on his sailboat True Love, his toupees Wilbur and Orville; family fun at Grandma’s in Portland, Oregon; snorkeling and spearfishing in the ocean at his home on the Kona Coast of Hawaii, visiting him in Medford, Oregon, and Tucson. The list goes on and on. He also did not hesitate putting in his order to me for See’s dark chocolate, which he really loved. Every time I see his artwork, he will certainly be remembered.
Thank you to Aunt Margo for making him so happy. Your meeting on that cruise was certainly a fortunate stroke of serendipity!

We adored Ed and have so many wonderful memories of our get togethers in Florida. We have paintings that he did, there’s one in particular that he did of our home and boat we will always treasure. My favorite thing about Ed was that he made my sister so happy . RIP dear Ed
Ed “Spare-Pa” was a remarkable person full of love and life. I will always remember his crazy FBI stories and fun-loving personality. His memory will live on in his beautiful paintings that we have the honor to enjoy. We will miss you, Spare-Pa.
My favorite memories of Ed are his love and devotion to Margaret and his gifted art talent. We have several of his magnificent watercolor paintings in our home and they will forever remind us of our dear Ed.
