Alan H. Warshaw's Obituary
Alan H. Warshaw, born in Brooklyn, NY in 1938, passed away August 20, 2011. Alan was instrumental in the formation of the Colorado Canine Companions and the Delta Society Therapy Dog programs. He served as the Vice president of the Colorado Humane Society and was president of the Board of Directors of the Colorado Womans School. Prior to his move to Tucson in 1994, Alan was the redevelopment manager for the Historic Homestead, Florida Main Street Program following the devastation of Hurricane Andrew. A life long entrepreneur, Alan was the founding partner of Small Business Services, a marketing and non-profit management firm with clients in the U.S. and Europe. He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Mary (Osborn) Warshaw. Alan was the beloved husband of Eileen Warshaw; father to Marci (Paul) Wolinsky of Scottsdale, AZ, Ellen Horwitz of Cemerast, NJ, Sherri (Steve) Zucker of Phoenix, AZ and Ann Williams of Gilroy, CA; Zadie to seven grandchildren, Danielle, Brooke and Mikayla Wolinsky, Ariana Gilmore, Brandon Zucker and Elizabeth and Zachery Horwitz; brother of Beth (Rabbi Herbert) Russ of Elizabeth, NJ. The family would like to thank the caregivers of Heartland Hospice and Alans private care giver, Opal Vigil, for their gentle care during his brief illness. Service will be held Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at 10:00 AM, EVERGREEN MORTUARY. Memorial contributions may be made to The Jewish History Museum, Tucson, Congregation Kol Simehah, Tucson or to a charity of choice in memory of Alan H. Warshaw.
