Albert "Al" Sterman's Obituary
Albert (Al) Sterman, 83, passed away January 1, 2014. He moved to Tucson from Brooklyn, NY in 1949 with his family, Julius and Anna Sterman and brother Milton (Whitey). Al worked for Tiny's Circus Drive-in and as a printer at Arizona Post and Post Printers. After his service in the Army he attended the University of Arizona, receiving his B.A. in 1962, Masters in 1963, and Doctorate in Education in 1976. Al worked in the Tucson Unified School District, starting out in Roskruge when it was a junior high school. He then worked in several high schools as a history and economics teacher. His last years before retirement were at Catalina High School. Al worked for many years in the consumer movement. He was a founding member of the Arizona Consumers Council. Also a member of the Arizona Telecommunicators and Information Council, Consumer Federation of America, National Consumers League, Democratic Processes and FINRA. He leaves behind his wife of 53 years, Brenda; daughter Deborah (Jeff) Mounts; granddaughters Brianna Elise and Samantha Jane Mounts; his brother Whitey and nephews Jeffery and Gary; and one son Joe.
