Alfred I. Paley's Obituary
Alfred Irving Paley (Monticello, NY), 89, of Tucson, died Saturday, December 24, 2016 … survived by his loving wife Sylvia Paley of 67 years and sweetheart of 73 years; devoted father of Howard (Bobbi) Paley of Mesa, AZ; Doreen (Steven) Maller of Half Moon Bay, CA; and Maureen Paley of London, England … and cherished grandfather of Marc Alan Paley; Brian “Ross” Paley; Max Louis Maller and Samuel Abraham Maller.
Mr. Paley was a U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II. He graduated from Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute, where he was a member of the Phi Alpha Fraternity, with a degree in electrical engineering. As an engineer, Alfred worked in the defense industry at Gyrodyne Corporation, Frequency Engineering Labs, and Loral Electronics Company. As a civilian employee for the U.S. Army at Ft. Monmouth, NJ, he was honored by the Pentagon for his professional achievements as a Value Engineer.
Alfred Paley was a man of many talents with a wonderful sense of humor. He was an accomplished sailor, an audiophile and a music buff. He combined scientific intelligence with a sensitivity for the arts…and could fix anything. He loved to travel. An ardent supporter of the State of Israel and a man of deep faith, he was active in the Jewish Community and engaged in Synagogue Life, where he selflessly shared his time and knowledge.
Mr. Paley touched the hearts of many and will be missed by all. His loving family will remember him as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and a patriarch of the Morris Paley Family Circle.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a chapel service, 10:00 AM, December 27th at Evergreen Mortuary Chapel, Rabbi Thomas Louchheim officiating. Interment will follow in the Or Chadash Section of Evergreen Cemetery.
