Alice Zemcik's Obituary
Alice Zemcik of Tucson, 98, passed away on March 17, 2023, after a valiant battle with heart and kidney problems. No words can express how much her loved ones will miss her.
Alice was born in Conemaugh, Pennsylvania, on July 26, 1924. She traveled to Astoria, Oregon, in 1944, to work in a cannery. She then moved to New York, Tennessee, Michigan, and then back to New York City working as a restaurant manager. She married Jerry Zemcik on May 30, 1955, in New York City. Finally, Alice came to Tucson as a Quality Engineer for Hughes Aircraft. She worked at Hughes for over 30 years, until her retirement, and she lived in Tucson for the rest of her life. Alice was active in her church community, as well as the Arizona Polish Club. She was well-known for her cooking and baking, especially her pastries.
Alice is predeceased by her parents and all of her siblings, as well Jerry Zemcik, her husband of over 60 years, who died in 2015.
Survivors include daughter Lynda Kreps (Anchorage, Alaska), grandsons William Kreps (Tucson, AZ) and Robert Kreps and his wife Sandy, along with three great-grandchildren Eddie, Katelyn and Peyton Kreps (Spring, Texas). Alice is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
We will be honoring Alice with a memorial service on March 30, 2023. Viewing will be from 9:00-10:00 AM, with a funeral service at 10:00 AM. Burial will be immediately following at Evergreen Mortuary, 3015 N Oracle Rd, Tucson, AZ. All are welcome to pay their respects.
A celebration of her life will follow the burial at 1:30 PM at Alice’s home, 2240 S Calle Yucatan, Tucson, AZ.
