Allen John Strand's Obituary
Allen John Strand, 57 years of age, passed on Saturday, February 11th, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital in Tucson Arizona.
Allen Strand, the loving son of the late John and Donna Kay strand, was born in Tucson, Arizona October 11th, 1959. Allen was preceded in death by two brothers, Mikey and Rick Gillock, and one sister, Sherrie Thomas. He is survived by one sister, Marcella Wigen, and two brothers, John and Joe Lara.
Allen Strand married the love of his life, Carrie, on June 8th, 1979. Allen and Carrie brought two amazing men into this world, David John Strand and Ted Allen Strand.
Allen was one of the hardest working men ever known. Allen started working at the age of 12 to provide for his family. He never stopped providing for the ones he loved. Allen spent 27 years working at Solvay Minerals before he had to retire due to his health. Allen's love for people was endless. Allen would give the shirt off of his back to anyone in need. Allen would go out of his way to make anyone feel loved or special; even give pork butts to complete strangers, or let strangers borrow his truck on their vacation. Allen is the loving grandfather to five amazing kids, Chance 17, Shailyn 15, Destiny 13, Kali 12, and Davin 5. Allen's sons and grandbabies are his pride and joy. Allen loved coaching his boys and nephew in baseball, fishing (well sitting on the ice with his shirt off, sunning in the middle of a Wyoming winter), motorcycles, old cars and trucks, guns, and the Steelers. When Allen was around, there was never a dull moment. He was always waving to strangers, dancing in the truck, sneakin’ treats to his grandkids and his dogs; heck buying his Chloe a sausage McMuffin daily. Allen loved pestering the ones he loved, especially his daughters-in-law, Malissa and Nichole, boy how he loved pestering weasel. The grandkids loved pestering their Papa Allen as well, who would have thought flour could turn into dough in eyelashes when thrown on someone fresh out of the shower. Allen sure looks good with a thick white coat of flour and lashes caked in dough. He also looked great in his sister-in-law’s swimsuit. Everyone knew Big Al was actually just a big teddy bear that gave the best hugs.
Allen recently rededicated his life to the Lord and wasn't afraid to tell anyone about it. He spent his last days studying his Bible and learning to play the guitar.
Allen has touched the lives of everyone who had the privilege to meet him. He will be truly missed and forever remembered by those he loved.
