Amanda C. Bedoya's Obituary
It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Amanda Camacho Bedoya. She left to be with our Lord on June 14th at the age of 100. Mom was the last in our family from the "Greatest Generation." She was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Coronado Bedoya, son Thomas Bedoya and grandson Jorge "Chico" Bedoya. She is survived by her daughters Irma (Mohammed), Amanda and Erica, Sons Manuel (Marisela), Carlos (Carmen), Jorge (Imelda) and Mark (Terry), 21 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren.
Amanda was born to Jose Maria and Francisca Camacho on April 28, 1924 she was the seventh of nine children raised on the family farm in San Ignacio, Sonora, Mexico. At the age 24 she met Manuel Coronado Bedoya at a fiesta in her hometown and "Cupid" struck his arrow. Shortly after they married, in Nogales, Sonora Mexico on September 2, 1948 and settled in Tucson. Her legacy can be measured by the number of offspring that followed.
Mom was best known for her homemade tortillas, refried beans and tamalitos which she forged with so much Warmth, Charisma, and Enthusiasm. Mom was a homebody one would find her either in the kitchen or outside watering her plants. If you went to visit her guaranteed you would leave with a full stomach. Mom was high energy and at parties you could count on her to be on the dance floor dancing and encouraging everyone to join in. Her pastime was the "Casino" and boy o boy was she lucky. Nine times out of ten she would come home a winner. She taught us to live "life to the fullest, Love one another, Respect to be Respected and stay Healthy." Maybe if we follow these basic rules, we can make it to "100."
