Andrew Robin Forsyth Williamson's Obituary
Andrew Robin Forsyth Williamson, “Robin”, was born January 7, 1945, to Robert Maxwell Williamson and Marian Thom Williamson in Glasgow, Scotland. He was their only child.
Robin spent his early childhood years between Kilsyth, Scotland and Caracas, Venezuela. Due to the ravaged economic conditions in the UK after World War II, his father, Robert, accepted a Financial/Accounting position with Pantepec Oil Co. in Caracas, Venezuela, leading his parents to move permanently to Caracas. Robin remained in Scottland with his beloved grandmother, Jean Thom, in Kilsyth until her death, often visiting his parents in Caracas. At that time, Robin was ready for high school. Because of the limited educational opportunities and violent political environment in Venezuela, his parents explored boarding schools and decided on St. Andrew’s College near Toronto, Canada. His mother’s cousin had married a Canadian soldier at the end of WWII, and they moved to London, Ontario, Canada. Robin’s parents later retired to that beautiful area as well.
Soon after graduation from St. Andrew’s College, Robin was hired by a prominent accounting firm, Clarkson & Gordon in London, Ontario, and worked his way through the company. Over the years, he earned a certification as a Chartered Accountant and its American counterpart license as a Certified Public Accountant.
Robin met his first wife Gail Armstrong, of London, Ontario, in 1972. They had three sons, Neil Williamson, Mark Williamson and Drew Williamson.
In 1979, Robin was asked to relocate to Texas to assess the operations of a Nursing Home Management company that was owned by a Canadian accounting associate. There he began his life-long career of Nursing Home Management. Over the following 30 plus years, he managed around 40 nursing homes in Canada, Texas, Arizona, and Nevada. During this period, he met his second wife, Teresa, whom he married in 2004. They remained in the Tucson from that time on. In recent years, he faithfully provided pro bono accounting services for churches and other non-profit organizations in the Vail, AZ area, continuing up to the time of his passing.
Over the past 20 years, Robin was plagued with numerous medical issues. In December of 2022, Robin endured a surgery which resulted in complications, made worse by the pre-existing conditions. On February 19, 2023, he succumbed to his physical ailments surrounded by his loving family, in Tucson, Arizona.
His was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Marian Williamson. He is survived by his wife, Teresa Thompson Williamson, his sons and their families: Neil Williamson & his wife, Sarah and son Liam of Sahuarita, AZ, Mark Williamson & his wife Katie and their daughter Daisy of Tucson, AZ, and Drew Williamson & his wife Debra and their son Finn of Wheatridge, CO. Also included as survivors are his step-daughter Hollie Holguin and her husband Craig Muthard, and Hollie’s sons, Nathan Holguin, Kyle Holguin and Daniel Holguin, of Vail, AZ.
