Anna Mae Chana's Obituary
Anna M. (Coochwikvia) Chana, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, passed away at home on December 3rd, 2013. Survived by husband, Anthony; children Michael Chana, Stella Anderson, and Gregory Chana; brothers Reginald Coochwikvia, Edward Bahyesva and Marcus Coochwikvia; sister Georgene Sockyma; grandchildren Richard Chana, Monica Chana, Veronica Chana, Sonja Chana, Max Chana, Jonathan Anderson, Aislin Anderson, Lulhoma Chana, Suhemahoya Chana and Wisiuma Chana; and great grandchild Hunwaisi Chana. She graduated from Phoenix Indian High School in 1959. She earned an LPN degree from Albuquerque Nursing School. She then worked at Phoenix Indian Hospital for a number of years. Anna and family moved to Tucson in the mid 70s. She found work at the YWCA working with preschoolers. Later, she worked at Amphitheater School District as Coordinator for the Indian Education Program. Anna was respected and loved by those she met. She was very sociable and enjoyed meeting old and new friends.
