Bill Holmes' Obituary
Heaven gained an angel, Bill Holmes, 58, passed away suddenly on July 18, 2016. Bill was a vibrant man who cared deeply about family and community. Tucson has been Bill's home for nearly 40 years and it is a community in which he influenced greatly with his time and talents. Bill committed his professional and personal time to serving others, whether it was increasing access to healthcare, leading corporate social responsibility efforts, or serving on a plethora of boards, Bill's dedication to making the world a better place was unwavering. Bill was a loving son and brother and is survived by his mother, Ann Nelson; his siblings, Meredith Baker, Janice Miller, Joy Ackerman and Johnny Holmes. Bill was an amazing father and grandfather and is survived by his beautiful daughters, Laurie Orozco, Tina Cruz and Becky Cruz and his wonderful grandchildren, Nickolas, Becca, Pappi and Adela Cruz and Robert and Isabel Orozco. In April, Bill married his soulmate, Shelley Pozez. She, along with her children, Lindsey and Josh Baker, mourn this tragic loss. Bill was full of joy, always smiling and up for a good time. He lived by example, always assuming positive intent and living by the saying "be the best you can be." He is deeply loved by family and friends and his loss has left a deep void in our hearts. A Memorial Service will be held in Bill's honor at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the Jewish Community Center, 3800 E. River Rd, Tucson, AZ, 85718. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to Tucson Children's Museum or the Girls Scouts of Southern Arizona.
