After receiving an honorable discharge from the Army, Billy served as a fire fighter in Stockton, California, before returning to the Kearny-Hayden-Aravaipa area of Arizona, where he worked as an accountant for the copper companies until his retirement in 1990. Billy also owned businesses in Winkelman, Las Vegas, and Tucson, both before and after his retirement.
