Blanca Stella Villescas' Obituary
Blanca Villescas was born October 10th, 1955 in Morenci, Arizona. She weighed 7 pounds, 6-¼ oz. the moment she first graced the world with her presence. Blanca was the daughter of Ricardo and Edwidges “Mary” Villescas. During her childhood some would say she was the favorite of her parents, though, she would disagree.
After high school she attended Eastern Arizona College, where she met her husband, Brian Kelly. Brian and Blanca had 3 boys, Brian Jr, Brett, and Brady, before they grew apart. Her spirit is carried on by her 3 children, 10 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild, mother, 5 siblings, and countless friends. Those who knew and loved her are blessed to have learned many valuable lessons from Blanca, all as special as our relationships with her.
Mom kept herself busy day to day, by working multiple jobs and raising 3 mischievous boys into 3 wonderful men. Sometimes she used love and other times a belt or whatever was needed to keep them in line. These 3 men gave her the most precious role in her life as “Lita”. Brian honored Mom with Little Brian, Gabrielle, and Owen. Brett honored her with Jose, Kylel, and Emric. Brady honored her with Christian, Kara, Kaleb, and Christopher “Cole.”
Moms passions included selling cakes for random birthday parties, to make a little extra cash to feed her growing monsters at home, as well as baking cakes for those very same monsters’ birthdays. She also loved to knit and crochet, sew and quilt, and collect Tupperware she never used. If she was knitting, it was for a blanket for one of her children or grandchildren. Her house was always filled with little knitted or crocheted squares, ready to be put together into a blanket for the next blessing to enter the family. Mom loved her daughters-in-law as a mother. She made numerous boxes of hats and booties for premature babies in the NICU. She felt blessed every time she was able to complete a new set. Rica and Blanca enjoyed countless hours of conversation and recipe sharing. Blanca was an amazing seamstress. Growing up, it wasn’t very “cool” to have handmade clothes from mom. Looking back, it’s clearly one of the many ways she showed her love for her family. Once her children wouldn’t wear homemade clothes Blanca threw herself into quilting blankets for them instead. When it was the grandchildren’s turn, they received both clothes and quilts at the same time. She shared her joy of Tupperware with her mother, Mary.
Blanca was an impressive woman. She wore many hats, including bookkeeper, master baker, pastry chef, 400-ton haul truck driver, amazing cook, and a loving and caring friend. She began her journey with Our Lord Jesus Christ on Friday May 29th, 2020.
She is, and always will be, the world’s best Mom and Lita.
