Brenon Allen Tyra's Obituary
Brenon Allen Tyra was born on July 10, 1973 in Tucson Arizona and passed away on August 7, 2021 in his beloved hometown of Tucson Arizona.
Brenon has always been an avid sports fan and participated in as many sports as possible. At the age of 12, he suffered a near life-threatening spinal cord injury while at wrestling practice at school. He has been paralyzed from the neck down ever since.
Many people would become bitter with life and angry with God after receiving such a tragic injury, but Brenon’s concern for others and faith in God only strengthened over the years. Despite himself having to endure a number of surgeries, years in and out of the hospital, and an extremely difficult daily regimen just to keep him alive, he was still one of the most positive human beings you’d ever meet. Once, a news story talked about how happy the average person was (on a scale of 1 to 10). When asked where he would rate his level of happiness, Brenon said, “An 8.” Those who knew him learned so much from his example of faith and happiness.
Brenon was soft-spoken, and a man of few words, but would let his opinion be known if he felt strongly about something. He was a fan of Minnesota sports teams, especially the Vikings. No one knows why he chose Minnesota (as a young boy), because he had no ties to the city, but he was a loyal Vikings fan nearly his entire life.
Also, he had many sayings. For instance, he was known to tell his brother, “I’m just smilin’,” when asked what he was smiling about. We will miss these ‘Brenonisms’ dearly. Those are just a few things that we loved about him.
Brenon is survived by his loving mother, who cared for him for 36 1/2 years, and his brother, who also cared for him daily. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, a 10-month-old niece whom he adored, two bonus nephews, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. His legacy of happiness and faith, even through the worst trials, will continue on through everyone who knew him. His patriotism and love of country will live on through his youngest nephew, with whom he shared a special bond.
We are sad that we did not get more time with him, we still had so many plans, but are grateful that he now is walking and running again, and is free of the discomfort and pain he endured in this life.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to https://onetreeplanted.org/products/plant-trees due to his love of trees.
