Carol B Longenbaugh's Obituary
Carol Basemann Longenbaugh Born November 27, 1938 Kansas City,
Missouri, died in Tucson on January 24, 2014 surrounded by loving family
providing her comfort after a month of respiratory and viral infections. Oldest of
two siblings born to Gladys Otterbein and Dr Max Basemann, they moved with family to Flagstaff when she was seven. She graduated high school in
Flagstaff, and worked on her BA in Education at ASU and then NAU. While in Flagstaff, she met
her future husband, Richard Dillon Longenbaugh, son of Dillon Adair and Ruth Miller Longenbaugh . To this union were born Eric (Samantha), Leslie (Keith Brooks) and Kurt; adopted daughter, Tamara (Jim Turold) joined the family in 1975.
His career led them to Davis, CA, where she is fondly remembered by multiple community and social groups. She was an officer of the Davis Public School Faculty Wives and worked at the local elementary school library. Later worked as secretary for local realtor and then at the Davis Community Church. Through the Church they supported several charitable organizations with fundraisers and volunteering. Rounding out their social calendar, they played in bridge groups and square danced. They continued these endeavors and added travelling abroad and hiking local mountainscapes after their retirement to Tucson. Her devoted husband passed four years previously. She is survived by their four children, sibling Bruce (Alicia), grandchildren William and JoAnn Devine and Jordyn, Forrest and Paisley Longenbaugh, beloved in-laws Laura, Ron/Keith (Judy) and Margaret (Richard) Rowland, daughters April and Christine of pre-deceased brother-in-law Andrew (Cheryl), beloved nieces
and nephews Kevin, Keri and Keith Rowland, Kathy and Lily Landikusic and
Brian Longenbaugh, Dale Basemann, step nieces and nephews Tom, Stephanie and Allison, and step-grandchildren Eddy, Mark, Timothy and Samantha Celaya as well as fondly remembered predeceased nephew, Darrin.
Services will be held at Tucson's St. Mark's United Methodist Church at La Canada
and Magee on Friday, January 30, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family
asks for donations to be made to cancer-related organizations.
