Catherine Crebbs' Obituary
Catherine (Kitty) Greeley Crebbs passed away on February 18, 2017 in Tucson, Arizona at the ago of 90 in Casa de la Luz hospice. Born in Rye, New York, the second youngest of an Irish Catholic family of thirteen, she went to San Tome, Venezuela as a nurse with Mene Grande Oil Company. There she met and married the petroleum geologist Robert (Bob) William Crebbs. In Venezuela she and her husband had many interests including orchid collecting. In 1972 when oil was nationalized in Venezuela the family moved to the Unites States and lived in Bakersfield, California, Denver, Colorado, Key Biscayne, Florida, and Houston, Texas.
Kitty was an amazing cook and hostess. When it came to cooking she believed in the power of butter and cream - "fat equals flavor." Her grandchildren have all become cooks and superfoodies thanks to her influence. She lived down on the family ranch in Tubac for many years. Every year for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and Easter she would put together and host huge meals for the extended family. Kitty loved to read. When she was younger she enjoyed tennis, golf, and skiing. In her later years she enjoyed playing bridge with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Moira Larkin of Tubac, Arizona, Ben Crebbs of Tucson, Arizona, and Cecily Crebbs of Tucson, Arizona; her grandchildren Hunter Larkin, Brenna Larkin, Finn Larkin, Max Larkin, Kelsey Crebbs Gootnick, Sean Crebbs, Connor Crebbs, Erick Sounart, Joe Sounart, Hailey Sounart, Ross Sounart; and great grandchildren Hadley Gootnick, Asher Gootnik, Colton Sounart, and Petra Larkin-West.
Kitty was preceded in death by son Robert Charles Crebbs and beloved husband Robert William Crebbs.
Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, February 22, 2017 at Evergreen Mortuary, 3015 North Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85705.
The family would like to extend deepest gratitude for the caring and supportive staff at Casa de la Luz. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Casa de la Luz, 7740 North Oracle Road, Tucson, AZ 85704.
