Jurgensen, Catherine Ashley's Obituary
Catherine Ashley Jurgensen—Katy to her family and friends—was born on a sunny
September day in 1985 and passed away on November 17, 2024, just a month after her
39th birthday and eleven days after her ninth wedding anniversary.
A native of Tucson, Arizona, Katy spent her youth swimming for Tucson High and
Tucson Synchro. She graduated from Tucson High School in 2004, then moved to
Phoenix to attend Arizona State University, where she met the love of her life, her
personal comedian, and best friend, Aaron. In 2015, they married and built a life
together.
Katy was known for her fierce determination and unwavering will. She had an
incredible way of offering love and support, often anticipating what others needed
before they even asked. Her thoughtfulness, encouragement, and selflessness knew
no bounds—she always put others before herself. She found joy in singing and dancing
to musicals on repeat, with the volume turned all the way up.
Katy is survived by her husband, Aaron Jurgensen; her beloved furry companions,
Madde, Barkley, and Jordan; her parents, Brad and Lisa White; her brother, Chris
White, and sister-in-law, Kristen White; her nephews, Elijah and Everett; her in-laws,
Eric and Beth Jurgensen; her brother-in-law, Alex Jurgensen; her grandparents, Robert
and Connie Griffiths, and Robert and Rosemary Perry; as well as many aunts, uncles,
and cousins. Each of them made a profound and lasting impact on her life.
She is preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Gradie and Nell White; her
uncle, Brian White; and her aunt, Lynn Griffiths.
We will miss her laugh, her smile, and her kind heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lutheran Church of the Foothills (5102 N Craycroft
Rd, Tucson, AZ 85718) on Tuesday, November 26th, at 10 am.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Apollo High School Student Welfare
