My deeepest thoughts and prayers (though quite late, I realize) go out to you all. It was such a profound honor to work in "Tip's" lab for my undergrad research project and paper, which was required for my Bachelor's degree in Biochem. He was most kind and caring to me, when I felt so overwhelmed working in a lab doing such impressive research work, and to know that he was also editing our ACSM journal, too! I don't doubt that, without his efforts, I would not have been accepted at Ball State for my grad studies. Plus, I became a part of the U of Iowa family.
Equally impressive was being able to take Exercise Science classes that included lectures from Dr. Tipton, and I remember well his time discussing weight loss and weight gain in prisoner's of war.
My time at Iowa was so very, very special. Much of that was due to Dr.Tipton, who even honored me with coming to my wedding at the Danforth Chapel on campus!
