TOPPEL, Charlotte M., was born in Chicago, IL on June 2, 1936. She was an EXCEPTIONAL person who was beloved by so many of her family and countless friends. Charlotte grew up in Chicago and attended the University of Illinois where she met the love of her life Alan Toppel. Thereafter she married Alan in Germany while he served in the US Army and spent their first few years overseas.
Charlotte was a natural athlete, enjoyed softball and tennis. She worked at an indoor tennis club for several years and was widely appreciated and respected by her colleagues and tennis members. After moving to Tucson, she worked for many years at The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Throughout her life, she was a very accomplished bridge player and continued until recently. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother, gregarious, always on the go, loved to travel, attend plays, events and enjoyed life to its fullest.
Charlotte is preceded in death by her devoted husband Alan, parents Eve Jacobson, George Rollin and brother Aurther Rollin. She is survived by her adoring children, Lori Orlov, Steve and Stefanie Toppel, Gayle and Jacky Shemesh. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren, Blake, Brandon and Samantha, Brett, Bryan, Alex and Zach, Avi, Ariel, Ryan and Lauren, Melissa and Colin, Michael and Mandi, Reed, Mandy and Blakely. She is also survived by her 10 adoring great grandchildren: Eliana, Ezera, Chase, Alexander, Emmy, Cal, Will, Penny, Parker, Grayson, Tommy
Services will be held Wednesday, March 11, 2026, 2:00 pm at EVERGREEN MORTUARY, N. Oracle & W. Miracle Mile, with Rabbi Malcolm Cohon officiating. Interment Temple Emanu-El Section of Evergreen Cemetery.
