Claire Ruth Grunstein's Obituary
Our amazing Claire passed away peacefully Sunday February 27, 2022, at the age of ninety-four.
Claire Grunstein was born to Samuel and Rose Weiss on July 12,1927 in Queens, New York. Claire met and married the love of her life Herman Grunstein on September 19, 1954. After they were married, she joined her husband in the fabric store that he had opened with his father in Patterson, New Jersey. Claire and Herman would work side by side in the fabric business, at stores located in Pompton Lakes, and Bloomingdale, NJ, then finally in Tucson, AZ.
Claire will be lovingly remembered for having a brilliant mind and a passion for business. She was a proficient investor and loved researching before she invested. However, her pride and joy was Fabrics That Go, the business that she and her husband Herman built when they "retired" to Tucson in 1978 when they discovered that neither one of them was capable of retiring. Her two sons were brought up in the fabric business and continue to work in it today. Claire was known and appreciated for her knowledge of all thing's fabric. She had impeccable style and taste and was always excited to share it with others. In recent years she enjoyed playing poker. She was very skilled and won many tournaments becoming a very competitive player.
Claire was always coming up with new ideas. At the age of ninety-four she was awarded a Patent for one of her inventions and could not have been prouder. Claire will be lovingly missed by her sons and all those whose lives she touched.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings and her loving husband, Herman. She is survived by her two loving sons, Robert and Gary and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Services will be held Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 N. Oracle Road in the chapel at 1:00 p.m.
