Consulelo Lopez Pitpitan's Obituary
With hearts full of gratitude and sorrow, we announce the passing of our beloved mother/grandmother, Consuelo López Pitpitan (María De Jesús Consuelo López Reyes), 89. She passed peacefully on April 26, 2026, at home, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 19, 1936, in Mexico City, Mexico to Mario López Aguirre (Acuexcomac, Texcoco, Mexico, January 12, 1912 - May 05, 1993) and Amelia de La Paz Reyes Juárez (Maquixco, Teotihuacan, Mexico, January 10, 1914 - October 06, 2002). The eldest of four siblings, Consuelo grew up with her brothers, Mario, Luis and Carlos.
Consuelo lived in Mexico City for the first twenty years of her life. Through an exchange program, The Experiment, she began her travels to the United States. After exploring multiple states, she eventually settled in Tucson, Arizona. She earned a scholarship to attend the University of Arizona, completing a Bachelor of Arts in English and Master of Arts in Education.
She worked as a pharmacy technician for 33 years at the local Kino Community Hospital.
She also taught Spanish medical terminology to medical personnel at Pima Community College for 14 years. On weekends, she was a Spanish interpreter for the juvenile court.
An expert gardener, a socialite with her singing group, a world traveler, and a devoted grandmother, her legacy and joy will live on.
She will be profoundly missed by her daughter Amelia; her son-in-law Steven, sister-in-law Zita Márquez, sister-in-law Ana; three grandsons Cameron, Diego and Ryan; eight nieces Luz, Martha, Rosalinda, Adriana, Gabriela, Perla, Sonia and Leidy Elizabeth; and two nephews Mario Alberto and Hugo.
