Craig Barrett Brown's Obituary
Dr. Craig Barrett Brown, an internist at the Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs Health Care System—Tucson, died unexpectedly on January 31, 2022. Craig was born on March 15, 1967 in St. Louis, Missouri. He graduated from Westlake High School in Austin, Texas before receiving his B.S. from Bates College in Maine in 1989.
Craig worked for many years as a respiratory therapist before attending medical school at the Arizona College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he received his D.O. in 2007. He did his residency at Sierra Vista Regional Hospital and a two-year fellowship in infectious diseases at the University of Arizona College of Medicine.
Craig was an animal lover and a lifelong tennis player, playing on the varsity teams in high school and college.
He is survived by his parents, James and Susan Brown of Austin, Texas; his longtime partner, Marilyn Mora of Marana, Arizona; his brother and sister-in-law, Andrew and Erica Brown, and his niece and nephew, Caroline and Preston Brown, all of Chevy Chase, Maryland; his uncle and aunt, Dr. Joe Radford and Dr. Peggy Radford, of Scottsdale, Arizona; his cousins John Radford of Phoenix, Arizona and Kristen Radford of Bozeman, Montana; as well as his dog, "Downtown" Teddy Brown.
Craig will be greatly missed by his colleagues at the VA Hospital and the many patients whom he treated over his career. Details about a memorial service will be shared at a later date.
