Dale Kirby McClanahan's Obituary
Dale McClanahan, 91 years old, of Tucson, Arizona, died on November 28, 2022, after a lifetime of good health, from a rapid decline soon after a brain bleed was identified by doctors. Dale was born on April 28, 1931, in Clay Center, Nebraska, the son of Kenneth and Bessie McClanahan. Dale was married for 63 years to Mary Ann (Cook) who passed in 2017. He is survived by two sons, Michael, and Patrick McClanahan, and two daughters. Beverly Schimpf, and Kathy Shechter. Dale, Mary Ann, and their family moved to Tucson in 1963 as Dale’s vocation as a blade operator led him in building Interstate 19 from Tucson to Nogales. Dale began road construction work at the age of 18, building Federal and State highways across the western United States. As his McClanahan-clan of six journeyed across the country with their mobile home pulled by his Ford pick-up truck, his children lived the adventure, three to six months in a new town, and, hook up the home and journey to the next job site. After 60 plus years on the job, Dale retired at the age of 75 and enjoyed traveling with Mary Ann to see the sights and visit relatives and loved ones in California, Kansas and Nebraska. Dale was a servant, always available to help family, friends, and church whenever any practical need arose. Dale is most cherished for his loving care of Mary Ann in her in times of health and times of sickness. Most importantly, Dale was a man of Christian faith, who has secured his abode in heaven through His faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. A memorial service will take place on December 17, 10:00 a.m. at Fellowship Bible Church, 6700 E Broadway, with a reception to follow. All are welcome!
