Daniel Patrick Kelly's Obituary
Daniel Patrick Kelly was born on April 22, 1948. On October 15, 2018 he passed away peacefully in his sleep at Banner University Medical Center in Tucson, AZ.
Dan was born in Rochester, NY to Ernest Francis and Norma Jean Kelly.
He was a graduate from Old Pueblo High School and enlisted in the United States Air Force, working as meteorologist. In his twenty year career, besides being a veteran of the Vietnam War, he was able to see several parts of the world. Dan retired as a Master Sergeant in Tucson, AZ.
Dan was a hobbyist of many things. Here’s just a few; ham radios, VW’s, fishing, tinkering and remote control airplanes. He was an avid builder of aircraft whether it was from a kit or built from scratch. It was always fun to see his work.
For the better part of the last decade, Dan was drawn to pylon warbird racing and became an accomplished member of the racing circuit in the southwest.
Whether it was a P-51, a Corsair, T-34, or his favorite an AT6-Texan, ....... he raced it.
And most likely, any one of those wings may be the craft that flew him to his final destination........HEAVEN !!!
Dan is survived by his three children, Patricia Ann Strones, Brian Scott Kelly, Danette Marie Borrego, his sister Susan, brother Timothy, nine grandchildren, one great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews.
A private ceremony is planned and we ask you to join us in a celebration of life picnic as well.
For more information please contact Patti Strones at [email protected] or 928-607-7563.
