David Beckies' Obituary
David Beckies was born on June 28, 1927 in Brooklyn, NY to Joseph and Gussie Beckies and had a younger sister Viola. Viola married Irving Cohen, who he regarded as his brother during their 55 year marriage. He was also very close with their children, his nieces and nephew, Elaine, Marsha and Arnie, as well as his great-nieces and nephews, Jori, Josh, Alison, Kenny, Jennifer and Michelle and their children.
David is also survived by his wife of 40 years, Joan Beckies, a son, Gary Beckies of Southern California and grandson, Ryan and Joan’s son Bill and grandsons Brett and Billy.
David enlisted in the US Navy in 1943, during WWII, when he was 15 years old. He could he not wait to serve his country. He went into the reserves in 1946 after the war and was Honorably Discharged in 1954.
After the Navy, David went to work for Irving’s father, as a painter. This begun a lifelong career in the construction industry. He retired as the Vice President of construction for Mission Viejo Company after decades of a very fulfilling career.
David lived in California in the 1970s, until he moved to Saddlebrooke, AZ, where he and Joan have lived since 1994.
Family was incredibly important to our dear Davey and he will be deeply missed.
