David Douglas Whitman III's Obituary
David Douglas Whitman III has returned to the spaces amongst nature’s bounty, whence he found peace and stillness, on March 30, 2026. Born April 11, 1988, being outdoors walking dirt paths or foraging a blizzard was both tranquil and invigorating. The loudness of birds, wind whipping through oak leaves, or the loud quiet of snowfall captured in each crunch of the foot brought a smile to his face and a lull in his speech. David was committed to fighting for his happiness, to be there for others as well as for himself. His manners were a sight to see and his passions were equally impressionable. If you wanted dialogue about parallel universes, Doctor Who, the genius of Monty Python and the Holy Grail & The Meaning of Life or the values of Norse Mythology, it was bound to be engaging. Dave, wearing his classic wool, newsboy hat, paired with a black graphic T and chain wallet, would greet you with a firm hand shake revealing his sleeve of tattoos. His ability to be courteous brought warmth to the community of Mashpee on their daily routine at Roche Brothers. David D. Whitman loved his family unapologetically, whether it be through lending an ear, being protective or expressing what is what, his family had his whole heart. Before Dave’s passing he was living life courageously, facing fears and staring down the unknown discarding all regard to breaking in search of own inner happiness. He was learning about the space it took for him to love others and himself simultaneously. David Douglas Whitman III is survived by his siblings Jonathan D. Whitman and Mara A. Whitman. His mother Michele A. Whitman and a host of friends and loved ones. Predeceased by his father, David D. Whitman Jr.
