Debra Sue Simon's Obituary
Debra Sue Simon (Sternstein) passed away peacefully surrounded by family on August 23, 2015. She was born at Tucson Medical Center (TMC) in 1954. Her darling baby picture was soon featured in the Arizona Daily Star as Perky Little Debra Sue.
Debbie lived her entire life in Tucson. She graduated with many honors from Catalina High School, was a varsity gymnast and co-captain of her team, and twice a representative to Girls State. After graduating summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Science and a certification in Medical Technology, she became one of longest serving laboratory employees in TMC history.
Her warm, friendly smile and caring ways will long be remembered by her friends, co-workers, and physicians with whom she worked.
Debbie was about family and children. Nothing made her smile more than the presence of babies and children. That she went on to become such a loving and caring mother devoted to her family’s happiness and success was only natural.
Debbie worked hard for all that she achieved. What she wanted most, she had—a warm home and family. She is survived by her husband and high school sweetheart, Marc, children Amy (Brett Welander), Jeff (Katie) and Jason, all of whom for life remain indebted for her guidance, and by her grandchildren, Evan and Shea, who gave Debbie such immeasurable heartwarming joy and pleasure.
A memorial service will be held at Temple Emanu-El on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m., at 225 North Country Club Road, Tucson 85716.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Peppi’s House on the TMC campus.
