Dolores Dean Dickey, age 93, passed away at 12:20 AM Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Haven of Globe in Globe, AZ. The Evergreen Mortuary in Tucson, AZ is handling the final wishes. A private memorial service will take place later in Arizona, as many family members live in several different states.
Dolores was born in Mattoon, Illinois 4/21/28 to John Borowiak and Mabel Stokes Borowiak. She married Jacob Lee Dickey April 21, 1946. She is survived by one son, Joseph Dickey and wife Diane of Mattoon, IL, and five grandchildren: Sandra King and husband Jeff of Greenville, SC; Mary Ann Garcia and husband Chris of Globe, AZ; John Dickey and wife Ashleigh of Racine, WI; Jeremy Pennington and Adam Pennington of Tucson, AZ. Also surviving are her great-grandchildren: Robin Fergason and husband Jared of Globe, AZ, Dylan Dickey of Lawrenceville, NJ, Sabrina Wilson of Mesa, AZ, Cody Wilson and Isiah Garcia of Globe, AZ, Julianna King and Joshua King of Greenville, SC, Megan King of Branson, MO, Michael King of Hubert, NC, Alexandria Dickey and James Dickey of Racine, WI; and Xaria Pennington of Tucson, AZ along with two great-great-grandchildren: Jonah and Shiloh Fergason of Globe, AZ.
Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Lucille McAchran, Ella Bence and Imogene Borowiak, brother Charles Borowiak, husband Jacob Dickey, and daughter Debbie Pennington.
Dolores lived most of her married life in Tucson, AZ. She enjoyed growing plants & flowers in her yard, visiting with neighbors, frequenting rummage sales, pencil coloring, having family members come to visit, and listening to music, especially from yesteryear. She had an organ that she and other family members enjoyed playing. She collected bells, elephants, and angels. Although Dolores devoted most of her life to family and home, she worked a short time as a file clerk for Pima County Courthouse. In later years, she worked as a volunteer teacher's assistant at Laguna Grade School in Tucson. Dolores will be sadly missed by her many family members and friends.
