Dolores M. and Julian Quiroz's Obituary
Our beloved mother, grandmother (Lolita) passed away peacefully on September 11, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband Julian of 60 years plus, and her parents, Jose and Elena Montenegro as well as brothers Antonio and Alberto Montenegro. She is survived by her two children, Dr. Elizabeth Gonzalez (John) and Ms. Ruth Ortega (Daniel) as well as four grandchildren, Chris (Carole) and Michael Ortega, Bianca (Javier) Rivas and Melania (George) Federico; four great-grandchildren, Alexis, Andrew, Nikaylie and Jacob. Our mother was the best role model we could have had. Foremost was her faith in the Lord and his teachings. She strived to live up to those teachings and these were passed to her children and grandchildren. Immediately upon arrival to the U.S. at the age of 13, she went on to finish her studies towards a G.E.D. For many years she volunteered with the El Rio Neighborhood Center, the El Rio Neighborhood Clinic and her neighborhood church where she held several volunteer positions. The U of A Extension Services awarded her a certificate for volunteering Mexican food seminars. Mother was a great woman who possessed an avid gift for helping others. As a citizen of the U.S. she gave of herself as well as thru yearly treks taking food and clothing to the needy in Mexico. No wonder she always reminded us that a man is measured by what he is and not for what he possesses. A private memorial will be held at EVERGREEN MORTUARY & CEMETERY, Monday, September 16, 2013 at 10:00 A.M. The family would like to thank the staff at Mt. View Life Care Center for the admirable care mother received.
