Donald Glen Collins' Obituary
Donald Glen Collins, 75, passed away July 16, 2023. Arrangements have been entrusted to Evergreen Mortuary, 3015 N Oracle Rd., Tucson, Arizona (520-888-7470). It was Donald's wish to have his ashes placed at the Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, VA. The family will honor his wishes and arrangements are already underway. Due to these plans, no local service will take place.
Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, son, uncle and friend. Donald lived an incredible life, surrounded by his family and his loving wife of over 50 years, Sandy Collins. Donald was not just a hero, but a larger than life superhero. Donald was a living casualty of the Viet Nam War, earning a Purple Heart Medal. In addition to his war related trauma and injuries, Donald faced and overcame more obstacles and pain than most other humans could ever tolerate. He gave his life and his heart to his country and his family. Other than his family, Donald loved baseball, sports cars, gardening and reading. He also shared a special bond with his dogs, most notably, Maggie May, who he is now reunited with.
Donald is so terribly missed by all of us. They say pain is just fear leaving the body; if that is really true then Donald never knew any fear.
