Donald Thomas Stevenson's Obituary
Donald Thomas (Tom) Stevenson was born on March 15, 1930, in Alexander, North Dakota to Ruth Winnefred (Thompson) and Hugh Donald Stevenson. Ruth and Hugh had three sons and two daughters.
Tom graduated from Hayden High School in 1948 then served in the Army for 4 years. His service took him to Guam, Korea and Japan.Tom entered into matrimony with Margaret Ann Walters November 26, 1951. They were blessed with four children, six grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Tom worked at Magma Copper Mining Company for 40 years; 16 years underground and 24 years at the smelter, before retiring in 1992. Tom and his brother Dan operated Stevenson Brothers’ Well Drilling and worked weekends and night shifts to secure water for ranchers and homes around the tri community.
He loved boating and aimed to take his family to Lake Roosevelt most every summer weekend. Annually, the family spent two weeks at Lake Powell, a 50+ year tradition started in 1964 shortly after the Glen Canyon Dam's completion. As the lake filled, they discovered new sights and campgrounds. The children continue this tradition, visiting every 2-3 years.
Tom's hobby over the years was to collect and repair old tractors. He created many of the parts needed for his repairs. Tom had extensive knowledge of machinery and could perform most repairs. Tom had a lot of friends and could strike up a conversation with everyone.

His grandchildren Ken (Kenna) Johnson and Tyler (Ryan) Johnson of Boise, ID; Haley Stevenson of Green Valley, AZ; Janelle Stevenson of Lincoln, NE; Travis (Kaylin) of Savannah, GA; and Elizabeth Stevenson of Denver, CO.
