Doris Nelson's Obituary
Doris Nelson, age 93, was born in New York City on Dec. 6, 1927. She passed away peacefully on Thursday March 25th, after a gradual and largely pain-free decline. Doris lived an active and, by her own description, blessed life filled with loving family and many friends. She was energetic for many years on the tennis court, on long walks through cities throughout the U.S. and the world, and on the occasional dance floor with her dearest husband of 53 years, Sidney Nelson. She will be reunited now with Sidney, along with her siblings - Jeanette Litz, Ethel Timan, Helen Velcoff, and Richard Jacobson, and her dear parents Abraham and Rachel Jacobson.
Doris is survived by her children Amy, Keith, & Laura, five grandchildren, one great-grandson along with many nieces and nephews and their delightful families. Her children and other family were able to visit with her shortly before her death while she was fully able to enjoy their company and take solace in their assurances that they will continue to love and care for each other as Doris would wish. Seeing her children happy gave her the greatest peace of mind and they will honor her always by savoring the small joys and beauty of life.
