Dorothy Marie (Alexander) Akery's Obituary
Born April 14, 1928, in Hancock, Missouri to Benjamin Harrison Alexander and Myrtle Hull. She went to her reward September 9, 2022, in Charleston, South Carolina. She was the last living and youngest of 9 children: 6 sisters and 2 brothers.
Dorothy was married to the late William Lee “Pete” Akery for 58 years. She is survived by her two sons William Thomas Akery (Marsha) and Benjamin Leland Akery (Kandy); Grand Children Joshua Scott Akery (Meredith), Benjamin William Akery (Apryl), Matthew Thomas Akery (Natasha), William Scott Akery (Kristina), Ana Lea Akery; eight great grandchildren.
She worked for 25 years as an audiology technician, and enjoyed working with her hands; sewing, knitting, and crocheting. She also was an avid reader especially enjoying Christian-based Historical Novels.
She felt a special calling to care for her nieces and nephews being the last living Aunt.
One of her favorite Bible verses was Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make straight your paths.”
She demonstrated the love of Jesus Christ through her life by showing love and compassion to her family and everyone around her.
