Dorothy Elaine Goodman's Obituary
Dorothy Elaine Goodman- Devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Born on Mar 4, 1930 in Brush, CO to Clarence James (Doc) and Amy Clara Hawks. After graduating from Colorado Women’s College in Denver, CO with a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, she moved to Pagosa Springs, CO where she taught K-3rd grades. During her first year of teaching she met her husband to be, David Louis Goodman, son of Hortense Lowenstein and Louis James Goodman. Dorothy and David were married on Nov 16, 1952 and remained inseparable for 54 years. As a close-knit team, they managed Goodman’s Department Store (until they passed the store down to the 4th generation son, Robert Paul Goodman). She loved a wide range of outdoor activities and joined her husband in hunting, fishing, camping, working on the ranch, and traveling extensively throughout Mexico and the western US.
Dorothy is survived her children, Dorothy Louise Baltes (husband: Thomas) of Camas, WA; Benjamin David Goodman (wife: Mary) of Colleyville, TX; Robert Paul Goodman (wife: Valerie) of Pagosa Springs, CO; her sisters, Roberta Harrison (husband: Donald) of Northglenn, CO and Ruth Cox (husband: Robert) of Bush, CO; her six grandchildren, Nikki Louise Mochko (husband: Jeffrey), Thomas Michael Baltes, Benjamin David Goodman II (wife: Elsa), Mary Bevens Goodman, Jordan Goodman Coffin (husband: Miles), and Hayley Rebecca Goodman; also, three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, David Goodman; her parents, Amy and Clarence Hawks and in-laws, Hortense and Louis Goodman.
Dorothy will be missed by her family and many friends. Contributions may be made to your local Hospice Foundation or charity of your choice in remembrance of her life, in lieu of flowers.
