Dotty was one of my late mother’s closest friends. She was also the mother of one of my closest friends, Paul. I’m so sorry for your loss Paul! xoxoxo
One of my favorite memories is of the once a month gathering where “the girls” would come to our home to play Mah Jongg. The sound of the tiles clacking and the bursts of laughter along with them constantly telling me how much they loved me, has been imbedded in my soul.
Dotty gave me my first job at Ruth’s Bra & Girdle Shop on Cookman Avenue in Asbury Park. I would fit women – mostly older women – into bras and girdles, secretly asking them why at this point in their lives they still felt they needed to wear a girdle! Maybe Dotti knew, being the hippie that I was, that I didn’t even wear a bra during those days! She never said a word.
Not having a daughter, Dotty always referred to me as one of her own. She loved me and I knew it! She was a comfort to be around. I will never forget her, or her VOICE!
See you next time around sweet Dotty!
XOXOXO, Jamie Lee Hoffer (Marlin)
