E. Lorneen Magiera's Obituary
Ethel Lorneen Magiera died on May 20th, 2019 at the age of 83 in Tucson,
Arizona.
She was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma in 1935 to Lorne D Porter and Floy
Eloise Johnson Porter. She was predeceased by her parents and her
younger brother, Lorne Earl Porter, and was widowed by James Tusa and
Robert Magiera.
She attended Texas State Teacher’s College, and worked as an executive
secretary until retiring early to Tucson with her husband, Jim, to enjoy the
weather, travel, and dancing. After Jim’s death, she married Bob and
enjoyed more years of fun and laughter. After Bob’s death, she continued
on with her many years of volunteer work, and was usually seen with her
knitting needles or cross-stitch in hand. She was a kind, generous person
who took in strays, and not just stray cats. She was also very openminded and accepting when her children and grandchildren made
interesting life choices.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Chandler (Linda), her daughter, Karen
Chandler (Christine), her step-sons Ronald Tusa (Kathy), and James Tusa,
grandchildren Lauren Whitehead (Brett), John Chandler, Karen Fee (Joe),
Michael Chandler, Julia Delgado, Talia Delgado, Marissa Whittle (Evin),
Nicole Tusa, Olivia Tusa, Devin Tusa, her great-grandchildren Tyson, Dylan,
and Mackenzie, her favorite cousin Jean Mandeville, and loved extended
family members Susan Herdman and Kathy Tusa.
A graveside service will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, 3015 N Oracle
Road in Tucson, at 10:00 on Friday, May 24th, with a celebration of her life
at her home following the service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a
donation to The Community Food Bank of Southern Arizona, which was
her favorite charity.
