Edna V. Abalos' Obituary
Remembering Our Beloved Nanay Edna
On December 13, 1953, in San Fabian, Pangasinan, Philippines, the third of ten siblings was born to the late Sinforosa and Moises Ventura — a beautiful baby girl named Edna. Though named Edna, she was lovingly known as “Loleng” by her family and as “Nanay” by her children.
On January 24, 1977, Edna married Pantaleon Abalos Jr. just as she finished her Bachelor’s degree in Accounting. Together, they began a lasting love that weathered many challenges, building a home and a family that would be her heart’s greatest treasure.
In the early 1980s, Edna became a devout member of Iglesia Ni Cristo, where she served faithfully as a finance officer, deaconess, and group overseer for many years. Her steadfast dedication to her faith served as a guiding light throughout her life.
Although she earned a degree in Accounting, Edna found joy in creating beautiful garments. Before moving to the United States, she worked as a seamstress in the Philippines. In 1998, she and her children joined her husband in Kaua‘i, Hawai‘i, where she became known for her gentle spirit and strong work ethic. She ultimately retired from the Grand Hyatt Kaua‘i in 2021. In retirement, she and her husband divided their time between the Philippines, California, and Arizona, where their children resided, spending meaningful time together.
Edna’s kindness was like a warm embrace. She was always willing to help, regardless of distance or circumstance, and did so without ever expecting anything in return. She loved cooking for her family, tending her garden, and exploring the Philippines whenever she could. Quietly, she enjoyed dancing at small family gatherings and making everyone laugh with her playful quirkiness. But what truly filled her heart was being with family — sharing laughter, stories, and quiet moments with her children, grandchildren, and beloved pets.
On June 27, 2025, at the age of 71, Edna peacefully left this world at home in Tucson, Arizona, surrounded by the love of her husband and children. She went as she lived — full of faith, wrapped in love, and at peace.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Pantaleon Abalos Jr., and their children: Warlito Abalos (Carol), Rodelio Abalos, Lovely A. Dasalla (Edwin Jr.), and Mark Angelo Abalos (Unique). She was a proud grandmother to Leilani and Aiden Abalos and is fondly remembered by her living siblings Glory, Julita, Jose, Moises, and Margie.
She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, and Church brethren who will always hold her memory close.
Edna’s life was a quiet testament to love, humility, and faith. Though she is gone, the warmth she shared continues to live on — in every smile, every kind word, and every moment we remember her by.
