Edward Shird Lynn Jr's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Edward S. Lynn, Jr. Ed was born in Florence, So. Ca. on January 4, 1944 to Edward S. Lynn and Marcille U. Lynn . He passed away on April 20 ,2019 at the age of 75 after a long and valiant battle with cancer. He was at home surrounded by Becky, his wife of 47+ years, son Justin and his wife Denisse and the two beloved lights of his life, 6 month old twins Nathan Edward and Ethan James.
Ed was preceded in death by his father Edward S. Lynn. He is survived by wife Becky, son Justin, daughter in-law Denisse and grandsons Nathan and Ethan. He also leaves his mother Marcille Lynn, brother Bruce (Carolyn) ,sister Sarah (Dick Festger) as well as many nieces, nephews and their children.
Ed served in the US Army from Sept. 1965 until March 1967. He graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Accounting. He sat for the CPA exam "as practice" and passed all but the law section on his first try. He did pass the law section and was a certified CPA.
He worked for Coopers and Lybrand in Los Angeles, Ca for many years and entered the private sector in 1982, working for Starkist Tuna and Heinz Pet Products until his retirement in 2000.
Edward was a very serious collector of antique woodworking tools, especially planes. His collection is quite large and vety impressive. Ed was an avid golfer, he loved, loved the game. At his best he had a 4 handicap and over the course of his years of playing he had 3 holes-in-one. He often said " I don't care how you play as long as you play fast !!" He played many of the courses in and around Tucson as well as TPC Sawgrass in Florida and the St. Andrews, where the British Open is played. He was a member of a local golf group and formed many lasting friendships through that fine group of golfers.
He enjoyed sitting on the patio and admiring the hummingbirds, butterflies and birds that frequented the back yard.
He loved his family and was over the moon with happiness when Justin met Denisse and made her our "daughter". The joy was compounded when they presented Ed and Becky with the "boys". They were his greatest joy .
Becky and the family would like to thank Dr. T. Berry and staff, the staff of Arizona Oncology, TMC Hospice and Bayeda Caregivers for the attention and kindness shown us over the last 4 years, and most especially the last 6 months of Edward's fight
In lieu of flowers the family asks that a donation be made in Edward's name to the American Cancer Society.
