Elaine Lois Rapoport's Obituary
Elaine Lois Rapoport, 82, of Tucson, died peacefully surrounded by her family on Thursday, April 23, 2015 after a brave battle against lymphoma. Beloved wife of Howard Rapoport for 62 years; devoted mother of Robin Abootalebi of Tucson and Edward (Sandra) Rapoport of Phoenix. Dear sister of Louis (Rita) Klein; cherished grandmother of Brian Rapoport, Jenna (Brian) Abbey; great grandmother of Hayden Abbey, and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Elaine attended Syracuse University and Washington University in St. Louis majoring in speech and drama. With her beautiful voice, throughout high school and college she sang with orchestras and was cast in many different lead roles as a singer and actress. She played and loved the Judy Garland role in The Wizard of Oz many times, and now she is “Somewhere Over the Rainbow Way Up High.” She was always outgoing and cheerful no matter the situation; she was also a past president of B’nai B’rith in St. Louis. Elaine was a wonderful cook, avid gardener, enjoyed traveling and took pleasure in all genres of music, theatre and movies. She was a wonderful wife, loving mother and adoring grandmother. She will be cherished forever and missed every day by all those she deeply loved, and family and friends who loved her. A private graveside service will be held Sunday, April 26th at EVERGREEN CEMETERY in the Congregation Anshei Israel section, with Rabbi Robert Eisen officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society or Peppi’s House Hospice would be appreciated.
