Eleanor Eigen's Obituary
Ellie Eigen passed away on December 14, 2024, at the age of 86. She was predeceased by Mickey, her husband of nearly 50 years, and survived by her sons Brand and his wife Heylie, Gary and his wife Sue, and her grandchildren, Jack, Sami, Alyssa, and Lily.
Ellie was born in Brooklyn, New York to Benjamin and Faye Pfeifer. Ellie’s father died when she was 5 and she was raised by her mother. Ellie exceled at school, graduating from high school at 15. She went on to graduate from City College of New York. In 1963, she married Mickey. They lived in Greenwich Village in Manhattan for the next several years, until they moved to Long Island to raise their family. They lived on Long Island for ten years before moving to Tucson, Arizona in 1979.
Ellie worked in various industries over her career. She began in the entertainment industry, working to file work visas for foreign musicians to perform in the US, including the Beatles and Rolling Stones. After a career pause to raise her children, she worked as a Real Estate broker, and later in the admissions offices of Apollo College and University of Phoenix. She loved helping students begin their educational journeys and start successful careers of their own.
Ellie had many passions. She was avid about her health and fitness, enjoying fast-paced, lengthy walks. She loved art and volunteered as a docent at the Tucson Museum of Art. At the museum, she gave art talks to other art enthusiasts, focusing on in depth topics of her favorite artists. Ellie was passionate about travel, visiting many countries spanning 6 continents.
Funeral services will be held December 18th at 10am at Evergreen Mortuary.
