Elizabeth Jean Kelly's Obituary
ELIZABETH JEAN (BAKER) KELLY
Elizabeth, known to most as Betty, passed away peacefully on the afternoon of August 17, 2020 at the home of Wade and Elka Kelly. Betty was 88 years of age and was born February 28, 1932 in Florence, Arizona. On that day, Betty became the third child to John W. Baker and Helen E. (Sylvester) Baker.
Betty grew up in Florence, Arizona and graduated from Florence Union High School in 1949. Later that same year she married Dale W. Kelly on August 12th. Betty and Dale settled and raised their family of three boys in Tucson, Arizona after shortly living in Florence, Phoenix, Globe, and San Manuel. Along with devoting time to and taking care of her family; Betty always made sure there was a wonderful meal for her family and was an excellent cook. Her “beef in a blanket”, “tamale pie”, cakes, cookies, biscuits and fudge made for “overly full stomachs” every time. It did not matter what she cooked or baked, it always tasted great. Betty was also “excellent” at sewing and had many other interests which included: crochet, needlepoint, quilting, stamp and coin collecting, auctions, bowling, birds, crosswords, making butterfly nets, recording, and a long list of many others.
Family members who preceded Betty in death were: her parents John W. Baker and Helen E. (Sylvester) Baker, siblings Dorothy E. Hill, John W. Baker Jr., and husband Dale W. Kelly. She is remembered with love by sons David (Nora) Kelly, Clifford Kelly, and Wade (Elka) Kelly; 10 Grandchildren, 25 Gr-Grandchildren, and 2 Gr-Gr-Grandchildren.
Our sincere thanks go to Wade and Elka Kelly for opening up their home, their hearts, and insuring that Betty’s needs were always meet. A special thanks also to Casa de la Luz Hospice and their nursing staff who saw to Betty’s care in her last days.
