Enrique Granillo Jr's Obituary
Enrique Granillo, Jr. known as Henry and/or Ricky, Loving husband, father and grandfather died on August 12, 2023 at the age of 77 in Tucson, AZ. He was born on October 5, 1945, in Florence, AZ to parents Henry R and Francis S Granillo. Henry is survived by his wife, Sherry L Granillo with whom he shared twenty-four years of marriage. Surviving family members: Children, Phillip and wife CC Granillo, Ricki Jo Chu, Derek Granillo and Elizabeth Atkinson. Stepchildren, Eric Froberg and wife Kim, Amy Gonzales and husband Jason. Grandchildren, Lauren, Zachary, Jacob Froberg, Janelle and Raquelle Gonzales, Christopher, Jessica, Taylor Chu, Mandi Granillo, Great granddaughter, Bella Chu. Brothers and sisters: Esther Witten, Betty Isch, Lilly Johnson, Ernie Granillo, and Delia Garner. Many nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Henry proudly served our country in the United States Army in the Corp of Engineers for three years (63-66). Henry was stationed in Korea from October 1963 – November 1964, and later served on a temporary assignment (TTY) for four months in Vietnam. Henry returned to Fort Leonardwood in 1964 and his entire unit volunteered to go to Phan Rang, Anaconda Mine in Green Valley for three years.
On April 1, 1969, Henry was hired at the Arizona Department of Economic Security. Henry served the people of Arizona as the head of the Employment Service (Job Service & Unemployment Insurance) in Tucson, AZ He administered federal, state and local programs for recipients of Tucson and surrounding areas. In addition, Henry worked closely with many community and educational agencies to develop work training programs throughout Tucson. After thirty-four years in state service he retired in 2001.
Henry will be missed.
Memorial Service will be at AZ Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Marana, AZ on September 14th at 11:00 AM.
