Estella S. Martinez "Stella"
Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away February 3, 2017, at the age of 91 and is now resting in peace. Estella leaves her husband of 71 years Alex E. Martinez, son and daughter in law, Mark A Martinez and Mary E. Martinez, her grandchildren Kaili E Martinez, and Keith Glynn, and her sister Francis Montoya. She is predeceased by her daughter Sandra Glynn, mother Maria Ruiz, father Rafael Soto and her sisters, Carmelita Romero and Isabel Reyes.
Born the daughter of immigrants Rafael Soto and Maria Ruiz in Tucson 115 years after the "Cry of Independence" a celebration of the revolt against the Spaniards in Mexico on September 16, 1925, was a badge of honor for Stella. She grew up in Barrio Anita and was a lifelong resident of Tucson. Stella met her husband Alex at the age of 12, eventually marrying and raising a beautiful family with him. Her devotion to family and friends, her beauty, sharp mind, love of dance and music will be dearly missed.
Viewing will be held at 10:00 a.m. on February 14, 2017 at Evergreen Mortuary in the Chapel followed by Rosary at 11:00. Internment service will be held at Holy Hope Cemetery Mausoleum immediately after Rosary.
