Evelyn Richards' Obituary
On Friday June 2, 2023 Evelyn died at her home of natural causes at the age of 89. After a brief marriage to Sanford Gold(deceased) with whom she had her daughter, Marcia, Evelyn went on to live a dynamic and creative life. Working and living in Ohio, Chicago, and Michigan, she enjoyed painting, skiing, travel and adventures. During one memorable ski trip, she met the love of her life, Robert (Bob) Richards. They married in 1975, settled in Michigan and relished a life full of escapades, golf, world travel, family and friends. Bob suffered a stroke in 1993, and soon after they moved to Tucson, Arizona. They continued to travel, delight in friends and family, and have a very active life until Bob’s death in 2003.Once again Evelyn reinvented herself and continued her world travels with her daughter and step daughters, as well as golfing, astronomy and photography. The symphony, theatre and show tunes were her joy. A good game of Mahjong or Bridge could make her day. She also developed a new passion, ballroom dancing. Nothing pleased Evelyn more than donning a sequined dance outfit and hitting the dancefloor for many competitions both near and far. She continued to compete well into her 80’s. Health issues plagued Evelyn in the past few years and frustrated her greatly. She hoped that she would once again be able to put on those dancing shoes and compete. She was tenacious, stubborn, adventurous, and lived a full life on her own terms. And she would want you to do the same. She leaves behind her daughter Marcia(Tom) Greco, step-son Jeff(Leanne) Richards, step-daughter Debbie(Tim)Guenther, grandchildren Sara Greco, Nicholas Greco, Jessica(Christian)Fairbanks, Daria(Blake)Pokley, Hannah Guenther, Joshua Guenther, and great grandson Elijah Fairbanks. She also leaves behind two special cousins in Tucson; Ellen(Steve deceased)Herron and Marshall Herron. Now, in death, Bob and Evelyn are reunited. They were each other’s greatest love. In Evelyn’s memory be unapologetically yourself in all your endeavors.
