Evert Derk Temminck's Obituary
Evert Derk Temminck, age 65, passed from this earthly life on June 29, 2019, in Dallas, Texas.
Evert is survived by his wife, Barbara Garcia-Temminck of Tucson, Arizona; his daughters, Jennifer and Jessica, of Conakry, Guinea; and his brothers, Harry and Gerard, of The Netherlands. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jenny ten Napel-Temminck and his father, Pieter Arie Temminck, of The Netherlands.
Evert was born on April 5, 1954, in The Hague, The Netherlands. He graduated from Reformed Bible College in Grand Rapids, Michigan, with a degree in Biblical Studies and was certified in Automotive and Semi-Truck Mechanics in Thunder Bay, Canada. He lived in The Netherlands, Canada, Sierra Leone, France, Mali, Guinea, and the United States. He served for more than 20 years as a missionary, with 18 years as a mechanic for the West Africa Branch of Pioneer Bible Translators.
Evert was a loving family man and a proud father. He married Barb in 1998 in Phoenix, Arizona. The couple had their two daughters in 1999 and 2001.
Evert was an intellectual, creative historian who deeply enjoyed fiery debates and fixing cars. He loved both of his countries (The Netherlands and the United States), dropjes (Dutch licorice), and his two girls and beloved wife. His friends and family will always remember him for his thick Dutch accent, his tender heart, and his joyful spirit.
