Florabelle "Peggy" Simon's Obituary
Florabelle (Peggy) Simon is now in the loving embrace of Hashem and her family before her. She was born to immigrant parents, Samuel & Esther Korchak on Sep. 5, 1930 in Clairton, PA. Mom grew up there with brother Earl and sisters Penny & Mitzi. She fondly remembered being the apple of her father’s eye. Married at 20 Mom raised 4 kids, Linda, Paul, Debbie & Bill in Pittsburgh, as a homemaker and then while working for the local Board of Education. She gave her children the gift of Judaism and taught them well. Mom showed her kids there is right and wrong and to always speak up when they see wrong. She demonstrated for them the importance of small acts of kindness. Her heart was big and most full when surrounded by family. The little lessons provided a road map for life. Mom was so proud of her kids and grandchildren. She loved cats. She loved to dance. She was a Pittsburgh sports fan. Her “Bubee” soup actually cured the common cold. She loved the way Andy Williams sang “Moon River” Mom touched many people. The family thanks Handmaker and Casa de la Luz Hospice for their kindness and support. Mom is survived by children Paul (Marcia), Linda, Debbie, Bill (Kelly) and 10 grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, February 3, 2017, 10 AM at Evergreen Mortuary.
